------------------------- Map ------------------------- Map name: Vortex Legacy Map game type: DM, TDM Version: 1.0 Date: November 24th, 2011 Players: 6 - 12 (12 Player starts) Requirements: UT3 + Patch 2.1 + Titan Pack ------------------------- Author ------------------------- Author name: Lord PorkSword Homepage: http://unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com/t31400890/lord-porksword/ Forum: http://unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com 'Legacy' thread: http://unrealoldfriends.activeboard.com/t42276069/legacy/ ------------------------- Story ------------------------- Ships log NC114-85EKLS The Vortex Rikers. Our prisoner transport vessel has drifted into the gravitational field of an uncharted planet. This planets large mass has a gravitational pull that is too strong for our engines resulting in us crash landing near a mountain range on the southernmost continent. The Vortex Rikers is heavily damaged and the power fluctuations have resulted in most of the prisoners being released from their stasis pods. They’ve killed most of the crew left onboard and have now turned on each other. I only hope the Vortex AI can keep them contained within the confines of the ship. None must be allowed to escape! ------------------------- Map files ------------------------- DM-UOF3-Vortex_Legacy.ini DM-UOF3-Vortex_Legacy.txt DM-UOF3-Vortex_Legacy.ut3 DM-UOF3-Vortex_Legacy_LOC_int.upk ------------------------- Details ------------------------- This is the Deathmatch variant of my 'modernized' version of the original Unreal map "Vortex Rikers", originally created by Juan Pancho Eekels. I wanted to remake the original map but update it to modern standards and also add my personal style, while trying to recreate the original feel of the map! This map is part of my 'Legacy' project. Legacy is my personal 'modernized' remake of the original Unreal game. I have no idea how far I'll ever get with Legacy but you have at least this map to experience! The map layout has the original Vortex Rikers layout plus additional corridors for better flow for the Deathmatch gametype! The tight corridors, and even tighter air vents, can make for some deadly gameplay! The lighting on this Deathmatch variant is a lot brighter than it's 'story' counterpart to help players with map navigation while being hunted down by Flakk weilding bots. Map Music was written and produced by my good mate Ben "Baggy" Coutts! I hope that maybe one day in the near future, Epic will give us a UDK port of UT3 which will inspire me to continue my Legacy project! ------------------------- Special thx, credits ------------------------- - Huge thanx to Juan Pancho Eekels for creating the original Vortex Rikers level. I can still remember the first time I entered the dark, haunting atmosphere of the Vortex Rikers many years ago! -Ben "Baggy" Coutts for writing some superb music to go with my map! -The UOF mappers/testers for putting up with my somewhat crazy tastes when it comes to lighting and their help and support with making this map! ;) - Epic for the editor & assets and for giving us the original Unreal game that has inspired me to this day! ------------------------- Legal stuff ------------------------- Unreal® Tournament 3 ©2007 Epic Games, Inc.
